Extended Morning Care (EMC)

Classrooms Eligible: MFPM and TK.

Schedule: Mondays 8:30am-1:30pm; Tuesdays-Fridays 8:30am-12:30pm. Schedule includes a time for lunch, which children bring from home. Additionally, families with children in TTH, MWF, or MFAM programs who need an earlier drop-off may enroll in Early Morning Care, which begins at 8:30. Early Morning Care takes place in the Sky Room, and is an intimate and cheerful way to begin each day.

It’s very important for children to have independent, unstructured social experience; time to play without a lot of grown-up involvement. All kids also can use some facilitating and help from teachers to maximize or aid their social development, or move it along, or get it unstuck where it’s stuck.

EMC is designed to be a relaxed and social morning experience for our MFPM and TK students to compliment their primary afternoon classrooms.

During EMC, children can expect long periods of uninterrupted play, giving them time to develop strong relationships with one another and to work on elaborate and involved passion projects. The schedule involves stretches of both indoor and outdoor exploration time, time for lunch, and a "cozy time" to ensure children's bodies are rested and ready for their afternoon programs.

The Little School is committed to supporting families with a broad range of needs and schedules. Families may enroll their children in EMC for one day a week, five days a week, or any number in between; but should we reach capacity with requests, priority will be given to families looking for full-time EMC care.
